STAR: “Sisters Together and Reaching”
Sisters Together And Reaching, Inc. (STAR) is a non-profit, 501(c) 3, Christian-based/community-based organization. STAR’s mission is to provide spiritual support, direct services and prevention education to the HIV infected, affected and at risk communities in a holistic woman-centered environment and STAR’s goal is to become a full-fledge women’s holistic health center.
STAR is dedicated to empowering and improving the quality of life for HIV infected/affected and AIDS defined African-American women, men and their families. STAR has over 18 years of experience providing a wide range of vital HIV related services to our clients and the community at large. All components of STAR work together to provide clients with a comfortable place to come for support and assistance; where they can be themselves and feel confident that they will not be judged or intimidated; but will find knowledgeable and compassionate staff ready to assist them in accessing services for their day-to-day needs. Since its inception in 1991, STAR has assisted over 20,000 HIV infected and affected women, men and children with a unique blend of spiritual support and financial assistance, prevention education and cultural awareness.
STAR is a major partner of Charm City Clinic, providing HIV screening to patients in the East Baltimore community every month. To learn more about STAR, please visit their website
