Our Preventative Health Program links local physicians directly into the community, where they screen for conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes, finding chronic medical problems before they become emergencies. Physicians spend four hours, 12-4 pm, on the Saturdays of their choosing overseeing medical students in the screening center and conducting patient consults. You are encouraged to play an educational role, teaching medical and undergraduate students not only the basics of primary care, but the importance of service in the community. As the core of the organization, physicians also may take an administrative role, working with the Board of Directors on matters such as quality of care, patient advocacy, and patient referrals.
If you would like to volunteer with our organization you must obtain permission from your department chair, which has been simple in the past. Once you have been approved, your malpractice insurance will extend to our site. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in volunteering.
